Ziyarat Ashura – Translation
Greetings to Imam Hussain (AS):
"Peace be upon you, O Aba Abdillah (Imam Hussain)!
Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of Allah!
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful (Imam Ali) and son of the Master of the Successors!
Peace be upon you, O son of Fatima, the Lady of All Worlds!
Peace be upon you, O chosen martyr of Allah and son of His chosen martyr!
Peace be upon you and upon the souls who gathered in your courtyard—may Allah’s peace be upon you all, as long as I live and as long as night and day endure!"
Lamenting the Tragedy:
"O Aba Abdillah! The calamity of your martyrdom is immense, grievous, and unbearable for us and all Muslims.
Your tragedy shook the heavens and all its inhabitants.
May Allah curse the nation that laid the foundations of oppression against you, the Ahlul Bayt!
May Allah curse the nation that displaced you from your rightful status!
May Allah curse the nation that killed you and those who enabled your murder!
I disassociate myself before Allah from them, their followers, and their allies!"
Declaration of Loyalty:
"O Aba Abdillah! I am at peace with those who befriend you and at war with those who oppose you until the Day of Judgment.
May Allah curse the House of Ziyad, the House of Marwan, and the Umayyads entirely!
May Allah curse Ibn Marjana (Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad), Umar ibn Sa’d, and Shimr!
May Allah curse the army that prepared to fight you!
My father and mother be your ransom—my grief for you is immense!
I ask Allah, who honored your status, to grant me the pursuit of your vengeance alongside the victorious Imam from the Family of Muhammad (PBUH)."
Supplications & Curses:
"O Allah! Make me honorable through Hussain (AS) in this life and the hereafter.
I seek nearness to You, Your Prophet, Imam Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Hussain by loving them and disassociating from their enemies.
I am at peace with their allies and at war with their enemies.
O Allah! Grant me steadfastness with them in this world and the hereafter.
Bestow upon me the praiseworthy station reserved for them.
Let my life and death be like Muhammad and his Family’s (PBUT)."
Curses on the Oppressors (Repeated 100x):
"O Allah! Curse the first oppressor who wronged Muhammad’s Family (PBUT) and the last who followed them.
Curse the army that fought Hussain, supported his killers, and endorsed his murder—curse them all!"
Final Salutations & Sajdah (Prostration):
"Peace be upon you, O Aba Abdillah, and the souls at your shrine—may Allah’s peace be upon you eternally.
May this not be my last visit to you.
Peace be upon Hussain, Ali ibn Hussain, the children of Hussain, and his companions!"
"O Allah! Single out the first oppressor with Your curse from me, then the second, third, and fourth.
Curse Yazid fifthly, Ibn Ziyad, Ibn Marjana, Umar ibn Sa’d, Shimr, the House of Abu Sufyan, the House of Ziyad, and the House of Marwan until Judgment Day!"
(In prostration):
"O Allah! Praise be to You for the patience You granted us in this grief.
Grant me Hussain’s intercession on Judgment Day.
Let me stand firm with Hussain and his companions, who sacrificed themselves for him!"
