Manchester, UK Commemorates Ashura with Mourning Procession and Husayni Gatherings
Coinciding with the days of mourning in the sacred month of Muharram, the city of Manchester in the United Kingdom witnessed a massive mourning procession and Husayni gatherings in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). The events saw a notable turnout from members of the Muslim community and followers of Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).
According to sources followed by Shia News Agency, the procession marched through the city’s streets with the participation of hundreds of mourners. They expressed their profound grief over the injustice suffered by the Prophet’s family, raised black flags and banners of loyalty, and chanted slogans that evoked the eternal sacrifices of Karbala.
Majalis (religious gatherings) were also held in several Husayniyyas and Islamic centers, where participants recited the Ziyarat of Ashura, performed chest-beating rituals (latmiyya), and listened to elegies that embodied the tragedy of Karbala and stirred deep emotions of sorrow and devotion to the path of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
