Iraqi Interior Minister Arrives in Tehran for Trilateral Meeting with Iranian and Pakistani Counterparts on Arbaeen Pilgrimage

Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari arrived in Tehran on Monday, leading a delegation to participate in the trilateral meeting of the interior ministers of Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan.

According to a statement from the Minister's media office, the visit came in response to an official invitation extended by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, aiming to coordinate ongoing preparations for the successful facilitation of the Arbaeen pilgrimage in honor of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him).

The meeting addressed:

  • Entry procedures and movement flow of pilgrims

  • Broader discussions related to the significance of the Arbaeen event

  • And also explored avenues to strengthen cooperation in counter-narcotics, residency regulations, and security coordination
