Pilgrim caravans reach Al-Deir, Al-Qurna, and Al-Madina in Basra as they continue their march toward holy Karbala
The caravans of walking pilgrims continued their majestic march toward Karbala of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him), reaching yesterday the districts of Al-Deir, Al-Qurna, and Al-Madina in Basra Province, amid spiritual scenes that reflected the deep-rooted Hussaini devotion in the hearts of the faithful.
With the increasing number of participants in this walking pilgrimage from various Iraqi cities as well as Arab and Islamic countries, the pilgrims bid farewell to Basra Province and set out toward Dhi Qar Province, continuing along the path of Hussaini love, which passes through Kut, Diwaniyah, and Babylon, until they reach the shrine of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him).
The people of Al-Qurna were at the forefront of welcoming the pilgrims, opening their homes and Hussaini service tents to host and serve them, providing food, water, and shelter—an inspiring display of generosity and spiritual hospitality that characterizes this great occasion.
Meanwhile, the Hussaini mawakeb (service tents) in Dhi Qar Province declared a state of full readiness to receive the arriving pilgrims, affirming their preparedness to offer various health, food, and accommodation services, and to accompany the pilgrims along the path of Arbaeen, which has become a global symbol of sacrifice, devotion, and faith.
This pilgrimage march is considered one of the largest annual human gatherings in the world, witnessing a remarkable increase in the number of participants year after year—an enduring expression of the masses’ deep connection to the cause of Imam al-Husayn (peace be upon him) and to the values for which he sacrificed his life.
