Religious shrines in Diyala witness a heavy influx of Arbaeen pilgrims

Religious shrines in Diyala Province have witnessed a heavy influx of Arbaeen pilgrims through the al-Mundhiriyah border crossing, northeast of Baqubah, the provincial capital.

A source in the Shiite Shrines Authority in Diyala told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) correspondent that the flow of pilgrims—of various foreign nationalities, including Iranians—to Diyala’s shrines over the past week, which served as starting points toward the holy shrines for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, has reached more than 100,000 visitors.

He pointed out that the shrines located near the highway connecting Diyala to Baghdad have experienced exceptional crowding, requiring intensified efforts in organization and in preparing service processions to receive the pilgrims. He confirmed that the security and service plan will continue until the completion of the reverse dispatching process.
