More than 21 million pilgrims attended the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) in the year 1447 AH / 2025 AD

In a majestic scene that renews loyalty and affirms the universality of the Hussaini cause, the al-Abbas Holy Shrine announced that the total number of pilgrims who participated in commemorating the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) this year, 1447 AH / 2025 AD, reached 21,103,524 pilgrams who came to holy Karbala from inside and outside Iraq.

No corner of the earth remained without voices of Hussaini love rising, calling out “Labbayka Ya Hussein”, in a human and spiritual demonstration unparalleled in modern history. Once again, it confirmed that Hussein (peace be upon him) is not merely a religious symbol, but the qibla of the free, the banner of reform, and the voice of the oppressed in every time and place.

In line with following up on this blessed pilgrimage and documenting its intellectual, social, and religious dimensions, the Karbala Center for Studies and Research, affiliated with the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, is preparing to hold an international scientific conference specialized in studying the Arbaeen pilgrimage, on August 18, 2025, with the participation of researchers and academics from various countries.

The conference will address multiple themes, including the intellectual, developmental, and spiritual dimensions of the Arbaeen pilgrimage—viewing it as an exceptional event that transcends religious rituals to become a global civilizational project, worthy of study and inspiration across various fields.

This conference comes as part of the Center’s efforts to consolidate a culture of scientific research about the blessed Arbaeen pilgrimage and to provide analytical and intellectual insights befitting this unique global event.
